For the admirers of BlackBerry, RIM has made it official that BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones are ready to hit the market soon. The smartphones have touchscreen with the traditional QWERTY keyboard of BlackBerry Bold style. The smartphones are running on BlackBerry OS 7 with 1.2 GHz processor. These upcoming new models of Bold are more slim, smart and powerful. User experience of the smartphones is highly refined and the models are perfect for those who want functionality and performance with style.

Design

Among all the other BlackBerry models, the new Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones are really slim with 10.5 mm thickness. The QWERTY keyboard is the best like always which has always made writing long text messages and emails really easy. Exterior of the smartphones is lustrous with a frame of stainless steel. BlackBerry users can totally feel the improved changes of the smartphones while holding it in hand. The design is stunning with 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen and 640×480 pixels resolution. The smartphones have 115 mm height, 66 mm width with weight 130 g.

Performance

BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones are more performance driven with 1.2 GHz processor, 768 MB RAM and 4G/HSPA+ connectivity. The touchscreen is Liquid Graphics which is a new feature provided by BlackBerry 7  and with which the navigation and other activities like browsing and gaming using touchscreen is really smooth, highly responsive and fast. The performance is really great with 60 frames/sec and instantaneous UI response. The display has spectacular visuals because of eye-catching 287 dpi resolution.

Connectivity

However, the new connectivity feature included in these BlackBerry models is the built-in NFC chip. NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is becoming more popular and a lot of applications and activities are covering this technology. It is good to have the support for it because in near future there will be a lot of services and applications that will require the NFC chip on your smartphone. Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones are the first RIM models to support NFC. Moreover, the smartphones have built-in GPS and has support for dual band WiFi that is 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4 GHz and 802.11 a/n at 5 GHz. Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR is also supported.

The BlackBerry OS 7 has many enhancements and improvements that will be highly reflected in the Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones. BlackBerry Browser is faster regarding loading web pages because of JIT JavaScript compiler and now has the support for some more HTMS 5 components like HTML5 video. The OS also provides the Universal Search that is a voice activated search on web or smartphone. The OS also has BlackBerry Balance feature that keeps the corporate and personal data separately providing users ease of use and flexibility while reading and writing personal emails and using social networking applications like Twitter, Facebook and many other messengers and such applications. Moreover, with this OS the smartphones will provide very convenient use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint slides with Docs To Go application that also provide PDF viewer.

More Features and Specifications

BlackBerry Bold 9900

The devices have magnetometer that is used for AR (augmented reality) and location based services. APIs are available for developers to further utilize this feature by developing more applications. Wikitude World Browser is also included in these smartphones. Along with magnetometer, the smartphones also have Accelerometer which is an orientation sensor and Proximity sensor. Moreover, the smartphones have support for 720p HD video recording with 5 MP Camera. Video, images and music can be easily shared or can be sync to PC like always using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. The smartphones are powered by 1230 mAh Battery which is rechargeable and removable.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones will be available this summer. The specific release date is yet to be announced by RIM.
